Position Overview

The Regional Head of Market Operations (RHMO) is a senior operational leader responsible for overseeing Alto’s performance across multiple markets. This role owns regional execution, guides local strategy, and ensures each market operates with excellence while scaling efficiently. You’ll directly manage a blend of Head of Market Operations and Operations Managers serving as the connective tissue between Alto’s central teams and on-the-ground execution.

This role is ideal for a business-minded operator who has led high-performing fleets, multi-market teams and understands how to scale systems, processes, and culture across geographies. You’ll work closely with HQ functions – Strategy & Planning, Finance, Growth, HR, and Product – to ensure Alto’s operational playbook is implemented with discipline, while continuously improving based on local needs and performance data.

As RHMO, your success is measured by market growth, fleet utilization, operational efficiency, and team development. This is a high-impact role with visibility across Alto’s executive team and a direct pipeline into broader company leadership.

What you’ll do:

  • Own regional operations: Be fully accountable for your region’s performance across multiple markets, ensuring performance against KPIs related to supply hours, utilization, cost efficiency, fleet availability, and driver + passenger experience
  • Develop achievers, not doers: Drive your team to think deeply, diagnose issues from first principles, and act decisively. Guide them in using data to identify root causes, question assumptions, and drive meaningful improvements.
  • Lead through people and connection: Build strong, trust-based relationships across teams; develop leaders through support and accountability; and foster a culture where collaboration, inclusion, and care drive performance.
  • Own and operationalize the P&L: Take full ownership of regional budget performance including driver labor costs and operations & support costs. You are an expert in interpreting financial data and translating insights into actionable strategies that drive margin improvement and budget outperformance without compromising quality.
  • Shape and scale regional strategy: Collaborate with HQ teams to shape regional plans, forecast supply, align staffing, and drive scalable initiatives. Balance consistency with adaptability unlocking regional growth.
  • Drive fleet as a growth lever: Own regional fleet performance end-to-end – ensuring availability, uptime, and maintenance standards directly enable supply hours, maximize utilization, and unlock revenue potential across markets.
  • Lead cross-market execution: Oversee rollout of new tools and processes, ensuring consistent adoption and high-impact implementation across all markets.
  • Raise the regional bar: Identify performance gaps, scale best practices, and build a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement through your market leaders.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 7–10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, ideally in fleet, rideshare, logistics or startup environments
  • 5+ years of multi-market leadership experience, including managing multi-layered teams
  • Strong experience owning P&L and delivering measurable improvements in margin, utilization, and growth
  • Proven track record owning fleet performance with measurable improvements in utilization, uptime, and cost efficiency
  • Deep fluency in data tools and operational metrics; able to forecast, diagnose, and course-correct with speed
  • Proven ability to lead in ambiguous environments – comfortable making decisions with imperfect inputs
  • Strong cross-functional instincts; can balance local nuance with company-wide alignment
  • A hands-on operator who builds systems and teams from the ground up – and knows when to get in the weeds
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support local teams and ensure consistent execution

Perks of the ride:

  • Salary, bonus or commission, and equity in an innovative startup
  • Monthly credit to ride Alto, plus membership!
  • Medical, dental and vision benefits
  • 401k with 100% company match up to 4%
  • Professional development reimbursement up to $1,000
  • Unlimited PTO
