Summary

The Regional Director is responsible for oversight and expansion for a portfolio of programs and services in the Los Angeles region. This role provides strategic direction and senior level management support to ensure achievement of community impact, strategic goals, program performance and spending plans.



  • Provides significant external relationship through either 1) identifying and solidifying relationships with strategic partners and/or 2) representing Goodwill in the public in dialogs which strategically enhance Goodwill’s external image.
  • Works with Workforce and Career Development (WCD) leadership and resource development team to establish appropriate fundraising levels for WCD programs. Reaches out to partners to help establish potential funding opportunities.
  • Builds Goodwill SoCal's presence and capacity for WCD programs in Los Angeles region. Collaborates with internal and external partners to enhance program effectiveness, mission integration, and awareness. Directs and provides guidance to program leadership in assigned territory to ensure positive program and participant outcomes in assigned programs, including job placement and services for target populations.
  • Maximizes resource utilization through careful budget planning and monitoring to ensure that programs operate within their financial limits. Identifies monthly variance and shortfalls making recommendations for course correction.
  • Ensures that programs operate within statutory and regulatory guidelines set by contracts, funders, the Company, accreditation bodies, and any other applicable requirements to meet program goals. Conducts routine visits, reviews, and spot checks at assigned sites.
  • Contributes to strategic planning to identify innovative service opportunities and possible areas for expansion within the assigned region through activities like community needs assessments.
  • This position requires local travel (> 50% of the time) a valid CA valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance necessary.



Education & Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in nonprofit management required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in direct program services required.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, or related field from four-year college or university required. Other combination of education and experience with a proven track record may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in employment and job training initiatives; employer engagement experience highly desired.
  • Master's degree in similar field preferred.
  • A combination of training, education, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of WIOA, DOR, OMB circulars, legal and ethical requirements.
  • Able to develop and manage multiple, complex budgets
  • Experience in implementing programs serving persons with disabilities and other populations facing barriers to employment; ADA knowledge required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly skilled presenter.
  • Bi-lingual fluency (e.g., English/ASL, English/Spanish, etc.) and ability understand another culture as required by the program or local community highly desired.
  • Global Career Development Facilitator certification preferred.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with Project Management, Presentation and software and Case Management software
  • Drug Screen, Background Check, Live Scan, MVR, Professional References and Employment Verification required.




The annual base salary range for this LA County-based position is $125,000. When extending an offer, the following will be considered, but not limited to: the candidate’s key skills, work experience and education, internal peer equity and other considerations permitted by federal, state and local laws.
