Recreation Program Specialist
Sports and Events
Pay: $24.21 per hour
Part-Time Recurring (Year-Round), Not Benefit Eligible

We're looking for a positive, energetic, organized individual who enjoy connecting with the Eagan community for our Recreation Program Specialist position. This is a year-round position that has flexible daytime and weeknight hours, along with some weekend opportunities. This position works up to 29 hours per week.
This position supports adult and youth sports programs and special events. You'll assist in implementing a variety of recreational programs and events specializing in youth and adult athletics, as well as pickleball programming. This position will provide excellent customer service and frequently work with members of the public through recreation programs. This position is under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and will receive work direction from the Recreation Programmer.

Essential Position Functions
- Assist in the development, growth, and execution of recreation programs
- Work with and provide service to individuals from diverse backgrounds (age, ethnicity, socio-economic status, etc.)
- Provide exceptional customer service, including communication both verbally and in writing
- Respond to inquiries and concerns relating to participants, programs, staff, and the public
- Assist with the promotion of programs and events through appropriate marketing channels
- Assist and support the Supervisor with community outreach efforts, program promotion, and marketing efforts by occasionally working events as a representative of the department
- Communicate with supervisory staff to keep them informed of any concerns or issues related to staff, participants, or community members
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining relationships with internal and external groups
- Assist in the selection, training, scheduling, and supervision of seasonal staff, instructors, volunteers, and partnering organizations
- Assess facilities and program equipment, and assist with obtaining supplies
- Lead staff in light maintenance, which may include room set-up, take-down, and basic cleaning
- Implement the program survey and evaluation, and make recommendations for changes in programs
- Administer basic first aid as needed – training provided!
- Work with City software systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid driver's license
Things that may help you be successful in this role
- Two (2) years of college coursework in recreation, sport management, events, communication, or related field OR Two (2) years of work experience in recreation or community focused programs
- A genuine interest in helping others and connecting with underserved communities
Supervision Of Others
The Recreation Program Specialist will be responsible for the work direction of seasonal and part-time staff, volunteers, and participants.

Working Hours And Conditions
Working hours may include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work will be performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
