UPD has 172 authorized positions including 83 state certified Police Officers, 57 Security Officers, 15 Communications Officers, 8 administrative support personnel, and 5 Records Technicians. The department maintains a fully staffed investigations section, a community services unit, a recruiting unit, a training division unit, a victim advocate, and an Emergency Communications Center. Please visit us at: https://upd.tamu.edu What we Want The Records/Evidence Manager, under general supervision, is responsible for overseeing the Records and Evidence Units for the Texas A&M University Police Department, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal laws. What you need to know Starting Annual Salary: $65,000 The elements of the selection process are: online application, Personal History Statement, initial interview, records check, background investigation, Chief’s panel, fingerprint check, and final selection. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of related work experience with demonstrated progression in administrative responsibility and/or management duties. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedures, and City Ordinances. Working knowledge of personal computer applications and TLETS. Working knowledge of the Uniform Crime Reporting System. Willingness to take initiative, identify and resolve problems. Must possess strong leadership abilities. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Responsibilitie Supervisory of Units - Manage the Records and Evidence Units by evaluating, training, mentoring, hiring, and providing oversight in these areas. Develop, implement, review, and modify programs, policies and procedures in regard to Records and Evidence processes to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws. Keep abreast of legislative updates and/or current and new developments effecting these units, evaluate potential impact, coordinate compliance, and develop polices as needed. Ensure and maintain ongoing compliance with accreditation standards as they apply to the units. Other duties as assigned. Records Duties - Serve as the department’s records custodian, overseeing open records requests, complying with subpoenas, and testifying in court as necessary. Audit Record’s Laserfiche processes to ensure accuracy, provide training as necessary. Evidence Duties - Oversee the Evidence Unit, auditing evidence handling techniques, policies, and procedures. Ensure proper evidence retention and destruction is occurring in compliance with local, state and feral laws. Provide training as needed. Other Requirements and Factors: TCIC/NCIC Certification or the ability to obtain within timeframe set by the department. Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Telecommunications Certification or the ability to obtain within timeframe set by the department. Must have a Texas Class C driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Must submit to and be able to pass a criminal history background check. Why Texas A&M University?
