Description
The R&D Project Engineer II will own the design and development of components for Myomo's powered orthosis, contributing to advanced research, new product development, and verification and validation activities.
The ideal candidate will be at home in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, and Clinical, understanding that ultimately the purpose of the role is to ensure and support both safety and efficacy of Myomo's products.
Responsibilities
* Lead design and development of biomedical components within the medical device environment, appropriately applying concepts such as biomechanics, bioinformatics, and/or biosignal processing and analytics.
* Analyze biomechanical and bio signal data to optimize device performance.
* Support verification and validation activities, including bench and usability testing.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
* Document design inputs, outputs, and risk mitigations in accordance with ISO 13485 and 14971.
* Investigate clinical literature, user feedback, and quantitative research findings to drive product improvements and shape the research agenda.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or higher in R&D Project Engineering or related discipline.
* 4+ years of experience in Biomedical Engineering or a similar environment, or equivalent. (i.e. PhD considered equivalent)
* Background and familiarity with CAD tools, analysis, or simulation software. (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB)
* Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting physiological data.
* Experience planning and executing usability studies or clinical research.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as a team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with ease.
