Job Description
The role of this person is to lead process improvement projects and coordinate the efforts between the R&D development team and the production plants. This includes processing and equipment improvements, value stream mapping and CIP projects. This person will also be expected to travel globally as required to assist in production transfers and scale-up batches.

Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Ensures all assigned projects are completed in accordance with the project requests.
- May lead small projects or small portions of larger technically challenging projects.
- Establishes own timeline by required due date, with input from the Engineering manager.
- Partners with team members to execute key project deliverables.
- Interacts with Marketing and other various support groups, customers, and vendors to ensure successful and timely delivery of results.
- Participates on cross-functional and cross-divisional project teams with support of appropriate departments.
- Technical and Professional Knowledge
- Builds technical knowledge in their functional area and applies it to meet performance or project requirements.
- Expands awareness of group business knowledge and understanding of global impact of work decisions.
- Establishes and executes experiments using appropriate experimental design parameters.
- Analyzes data, demonstrates critical thinking, and recognizes anomalies. Begins to make decisions based on data.
- Performs technical investigations and begins to leverage knowledge from background research.
- Safety and Quality
- Ensures safety, housekeeping, and ISO practices are followed.
- Maintains certification on and follows quality standards, such as ITMs and ICMs.
- Actively seeks to reduce risk through corrective action of unsafe practices.
- Correctly documents lab results and technical information and maintains an up-to-date electronic lab notebook and/or project folder per/maintains ISO standards.
- Communication
- Prepares written documentation and verbal presentation of information while learning to adapt to various audiences.
- Communicates/interfaces with global engineering and maintenance teams
- Communicates work progress, status, completion, issues, and begins to suggest solutions.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATION:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (“STEM”) field
Preferred:
- BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Basic math skills
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Chemical Engineering experience
Preferred:
- Experience in equipment maintenance
- Ability to interact effectively with various levels of technical experience
- Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis
- Excellent organization and planning skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
- High level of initiative and leadership ability
- Project leadership/management experience
- Design for 6-Sigma Training
- Bilingual preferred, Spanish or Chinese
