Job Title: R&D Manager Job Description The R&D Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining nutritional supplement formulations in various delivery formats, including tablets, capsules, and powders, for launch in both US and international markets. This role involves collaborating with multiple internal groups on product formulation, product/process development, scale-up, and commercialization of dietary supplement dosage forms. The R&D Manager will also develop, expand, and manage internal programs and staff to gather relevant physical data on raw materials and finished products to enhance manufacturability. Furthermore, the R&D Manager will explore and conduct research in relevant technologies for product innovation and process enhancement, ensuring formulations are of high quality, cost-effective, and meet brand guidelines. Responsibilities * Develop and maintain nutritional supplement formulations in various formats such as tablets, capsules, and powders. * Collaborate with internal teams on product formulation, development, and commercialization of dietary supplement dosage forms. * Manage programs and staff to collect data on raw materials and finished products to improve manufacturability. * Conduct research in relevant technologies for product innovation and process enhancement. * Ensure formulations are high quality, cost-effective, and align with brand guidelines. Essential Skills * Bachelor's or master's degree in a scientific discipline such as Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition/Dietetics, or related field. * Five to ten years of experience in formulation and R&D within the dietary supplement industry. * Proficiency in solid dose and powders manufacturing equipment including tablet presses, capsule fillers, coating equipment, blenders, granulation, and milling equipment. * Understanding of manufacturing unit operations associated with each equipment type. * Proven track record of success in commercial dietary supplement and functional food formulation development. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience in dietary supplements or sports nutrition is preferred. Work Environment The R&D Manager will work in a lab setting, overseeing three R&D scientists. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Quality Assurance teams. The manager will have their own cubicle and be involved in innovative projects and product development, providing exciting opportunities for those interested in research and development.
