Azooa is preparing a response to RFQ IDLH-03279, issued by the Department of Defence (SA) on behalf of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), for the role of Senior Radio Frequency Technologist.

This is a high-sensitivity, high-impact opportunity to directly support ASD’s advanced mission capabilities. We’re seeking up to three qualified and security-cleared candidates for nomination as part of our submission.

🛠️ Role Overview: What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior RF Technologist, you’ll play a hands-on role in:

📡 RF Design & System Integration

• Model, prototype, and document RF subsystems
• Align technical designs with architecture and stakeholder requirements
• Evaluate and balance multiple design options and trade-offs

🧪 Testing, Diagnostics & Verification

• Design functional and exploratory test plans
• Execute tests using diagnostic tools (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers)
• Automate repeatable test scenarios and analyse system behaviours

🔍 Troubleshooting & Fault Isolation

• Identify and resolve system-wide RF issues
• Reconfigure equipment and software to maintain performance
• Apply structured problem-solving to optimise reliability and uptime

🧾 Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain systems engineering documentation and standard procedures
• Contribute to design reviews and improvement initiatives
• Support onboarding and development of team members

🟦 Essential Criteria

📐 DESN 4 – System Design

• Demonstrated ability to design RF components aligned with agreed architecture, standards, and stakeholder expectations
• Modelling and simulation of component behaviour to support design approval
• Creation of comprehensive design specifications and documentation
• Experience in reviewing and improving designs for performance, scalability, and maintainability

📶 RFEN 4 – RF Engineering

• Proven skill in diagnosing and resolving system-wide RF faults using advanced tools
• Ability to configure and optimise RF systems across a range of hardware and software platforms
• Experience specifying, integrating, and tuning RF devices
• Defining communication protocols over available RF bands and reconfiguring systems for performance

🧪 TEST 3 – Functional Testing

• Designing detailed test cases that address standard, edge, and boundary conditions
• Active involvement in requirement and design reviews
• Automation of repeatable tests and preparation of test environments
• Executing tests, logging detailed defect reports, and interpreting results to evaluate system readiness

🟨 Desirable Criteria

⭐ Experience in satellite communication systems

⭐ Possession of an Electrical Trade Certificate

⭐ Understanding of ARPANSA RF Safety Standards

⭐ Experience with RFoIP (RF over IP) technologies

🔸 Understand Defence security protocols and have experience in classified environments

🔸 Are self-motivated, adaptable, and value precision and security

🛡️ Security Clearance

This role requires the ability to obtain a Positive Vetting (PV) clearance. Azooa will support eligible candidates through this process.
