Every role has an impact on our patients' lives and you have the opportunity to make a difference. We are looking for a dedicated Radiational Oncology Physicist like you to be a part of our team. Job Summary and Qualifications The Medical Physicist will review all patient charts in terms of initial treatment and weekly for deviations from the prescribed course of treatment. This person will review all computer treatment plans in consultation with the Medical Director. The Medical Physicist will perform monthly calibrations of all radiotherapy units with standards recognized by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). What you will do in this role: * The quality of service provided by the department is very good as indicated by a combination of information available through customer surveys, professional standards, accrediting agencies, governmental standards, informal feedback, employee surveys and direct observations * Consistently demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with all constituencies-including other departments, patients, physicians, and community * Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services * Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services * Continuously assesses and improves the performance of services provided by the department * Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate * Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education to all department employees * Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or the medical center * Monitors quality outcomes and recommends improvements in performance relative to the following safety issues: * Mitigation of unsafe practices * Identification and mitigation of risks and hazards * Quality of the informed consent process * Ensuring adequate and competent nursing staff service * Timely and understandable communication of patient critical information * Accurate labeling of diagnostic studies including radiographs or other diagnostic studies * Adverse events resulting from non-standardized, fragmented, or ineffective information transfer at the time of patient discharge * Hospital-acquired infections related to inadequate hand hygiene * Knowledge of radiation physics and radiation safety * Knowledge of data acquisition and input into computer treatment planning systems * Ability to perform calibrations with quality assurance equipment used in regulatory compliance * Ability to perform dosimetry with respect to radiotherapy and brachytherapy * Ability to communicate with management through verbal and written means * Ability to communicate treatment requirements to staff therapists * Knowledge of the functioning of linear accelerators and treatment simulators * Knowledge of human anatomy in relation to radiation therapy What Qualifications You Will Need: * Master's degree in physics * ABR Board Certified preferred * Minimum 2 years of experience or completion of appropriate residency Centerpoint Medical Center is a 285+ bed hospital featuring state-of-the-art equipment and technology.
