About Us
Riverlane's mission is to make quantum computing useful, sooner. From advances in material science to complex chemistry simulation for drug design and discovery, quantum computers will help solve some of the world's most important challenges. Riverlane is building the quantum error correction stack, Deltaflow, to make this happen. It's a complex problem that requires a range of skills, talent and passion.
We recently raised $75M in Series C funding to accelerate our cutting-edge R&D in quantum error correction (QEC), and are partnering with many of the world's leading quantum hardware providers and government agencies to make fault-tolerant quantum computing a reality. We're making remarkable progress and growing fast.
About The Role
As a Quantum Algorithms Researcher at Riverlane, you will be a valued member of our Discover team, which investigates quantum algorithms and their applications to real-world problems. This team consists of physicists, chemists and mathematicians who collaborate with world-leading experts in algorithm development, as well as in in other areas, such as quantum error correction.
This is a really exciting opportunity to contribute to Riverlane's efforts to find the most promising early applications of quantum computing in chemistry, fluid dynamics and other potential fields of interest.
As a Quantum Algorithms Researcher at Riverlane, you will participate in the wider academic community by contributing to research articles for publication, as well as participating in conferences. As such, our Discover team provides internal expertise, as well as being widely recognised in the industry for their contributions to quantum algorithms.
This position is well-suited to a highly motivated individual with a mathematical/theoretical physics/computer science background, who has a keen interest to learn, develop and contribute to creative research on quantum algorithms. To help you excel in this role, we will support you to learn and develop an understanding of quantum algorithms and related concepts - previous knowledge is not required.
What You Will Do
- Learn about existing quantum algorithms and developing new ones, in addition to finding new areas of applications for these methods
- Undertake academic pursuits, such as reading papers, participating in journal clubs, writing papers and presenting research at conferences
- Write code to test scientific ideas and contribute to software-focused products
- Lead or participate in projects involving a small team of colleagues
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate your work with other research areas at Riverlane
- Develop relationships with new partners and customers in industry and academia
- Contribute to hardware experiments in your area of expertise
Requirements
What we need
- PhD and excellent academic performance in a subject with strong mathematical focus (e.g. mathematics, theoretical physics, theoretical chemistry, computer science)
- Experience in scientific research (in academia or industry)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, including:
- Being prepared to discuss current progress with team members
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Eagerness and motivation to learn about and apply technical skills in new topics related to quantum algorithms
- Strong problem-solving skills
Even better if you have...
- Experience with quantum algorithms/applications of quantum computing
- Knowledge of quantum error correction
- Strong programming skills, preferably (but not necessarily) Python
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git)
