OVERVIEW

Bass Installation is a construction company located in Mississauga, Ontario specializing in the installation of glass on skyscrapers, office buildings, and hi-rise residential buildings throughout the GTA. We are currently looking for a full-time Quality Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and a quick learner that thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.


DUTIES

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the successful candidate will be primarily located at the head office in Mississauga, making regular visits to our project sites throughout the GTA as required. The incumbent will work as part of the Business Development department to oversee and ensure the quality of all project documentation, materials and installation processes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Document Control:

  • Maintain document control systems and procedures, based on existing company policies
  • Ensure all project documents are properly logged, distributed, and stored
  • Manage the flow of documentation between project teams, clients, and subcontractors
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and quality control
  • Provide training on document control tools and procedures
  • Prepare regular reports on document control activities and project documentation status


Quality Management:

  • Responsible for ensuring all qualifications are met and maintained for North American Contractor Certification (NACC)
  • Collaborate with our Field Operations team on all matters pertaining to quality
  • Plan, establish, document, and maintain the Quality Management Plan (QMP)
  • Direct internal and external quality audits, including audits of suppliers
  • Verify procurement documents and items for construction and installation work
  • Advise on the evaluation and selection of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review and accept customer free issue items and supporting documentation
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Initiate management reviews and ensure continuous improvement of the QMS
  • Prepare Quality Audit Plans and coordinate Internal and External Quality Audits
  • Report audit findings to the client and ensure corrective actions are taken
  • Liaise with clients as required and act as the primary representative on quality management matters
  • Prepare and submit monthly QMS reports


Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA): 

  • Identify, document, and track non-conformances or undesirable issues
  • Take corrective actions and implement steps to prevent recurrence, including root cause analysis
  • Maintain a CAPA Log to track the effectiveness of actions taken


Quality Control:

  • Create quality control policies and procedures
  • Understand product standards and specifications and communicate them to production teams
  • Advise on all on-site QC/QA observations and inspections
  • Prepare reports documenting observations, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Confer with Supervisory personnel, Clients, Contractors, and Design Professionals to resolve work procedures, complaints, and manufacturing issues
  • Track and analyze client feedback, including complaints, punch list items, warranty claims, improvement suggestions, and service requests


Collaboration with Pre-Construction and Procurement Teams:

  • Assist the Pre-Construction team with quality-related aspects during the planning and estimation phases
  • Support the Procurement team in evaluating and selecting suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure that procurement documents and items meet quality standards and project specifications
  • Collaborate with Pre-Construction and Procurement teams to address any quality issues that arise during the project lifecycle


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor or equivalent experience in a similar quality management role for a construction company
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing quality management systems and leading field quality inspections
  • Trade experience with a diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of specified software experience such as in AutoCAD, MS Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat. Previous experience with Procore considered an asset
  • Familiarity with NACC certification process considered an asset
  • Proven knowledge of methods and practices relating to glass and curtainwall installation
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management and methodologies
  • Experience creating, implementing, and training policies and procedures
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to work at the site and align with safety requirements


Salary Range: $80,000 – 95,000 annually, dependent on experience and education .
