Summary

Tesla is looking for highly motivated Engineering Supervisors to manage the shift teams of Technicians for the Cell Manufacturing Fault Analysis Labs. The labs perform routine Computed Tomography Scanning and image evaluation as well as Cell dissection and inspection for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing program. In this role you will work closely with Quality and Engineering Technicians under the guidance of the Lab Manager to perform failure analysis with the highest standards of safety, quality, and output. In addition to people management, the Engineering Supervisor will perform image acquisition and evaluation and create a culture of continuous improvement in the labs. The person for this role must exhibit the knowledge, leadership, and drive needed to not only challenge the status quo, but also define and execute the optimal path forward. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. The ideal candidate should be ready to push their limits, as they join a highly motivated and capable team. * Lead a shift team of fault analysis Lab Technicians by communicating test prioritization and delegating work across the shift team, including interacting with test requesters to identify needs and determine how to meet them * Provide hands on support alongside Technicians to complete quality testing, including: CT scanning for production and engineering support, radiographic image analysis and defect detection, waste stream and parts flow management, comprehensive cell dissection and analysis, SEM elemental analysis, Keyence and optical microscope * Take on continuous improvement projects within the lab to improve workflow efficiency and culture * Interact with vendors to troubleshoot equipment * Enforce compliance to all EHS policies and 5S/workplace hygiene standards across their shift * Communicate challenges and successes to the Lab Manager and support the Fault Analysis Engineer with test method development and creation of Manufacturing Instructions * Train and onboard new Quality and Engineering Technicians to perform fault analysis tests * Advanced proficiency in operating industrial radiographic equipment and interpretation of multi-planar imaging with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrated leadership skills * Detail-oriented with exceptional documentation, organization, and communication skills * Familiarity with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment * Comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials in a laboratory environment * Be both capable and willing to perform all the various manual tasks involved with lab work, such as safely moving heavy objects, moving large pallets with a pallet jack, handling incoming materials, etc. * Willing to work long hours and weekends on short notice * Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
