Quality Field Technician
Job Description
The Quality Field Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the satisfaction of customers, team members, and vendors by overseeing quality-related duties. This position involves providing on-shift coordination, support, and focus on quality issues within the manufacturing production floor. The technician will establish and maintain basic quality systems to ensure the production of high-quality products. Responsibilities also include performing analytical testing and determining product conformance with specifications, aligned with Good Manufacturing Practices. The role supports the manufacture of extended shelf life (ESL) dairy-related products.
Responsibilities
* Achieve goals in production, safety, quality, performance, and cost.
* Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to boost productivity and equipment capabilities.
* Comply with GMPs, SOPs, corporate and plant policies, rules, and regulations.
* Support all areas related to quality as assigned by supervisor or lead.
* Ensure quality checks are performed accurately; provide follow-up training as needed.
* Perform audits and reviews to ensure quality standards are met.
* Track packaging/processing Key Quality Attributes (KQAs) and identify trends.
* Communicate effectively between shifts and departments to resolve issues.
* Assist Operations with compliance to standards and communicate product disposition.
* Conduct routine cycle counts for inventory accuracy and assist with cycle counts for repro and waste products.
* Audit Operations' paperwork for timely completion and accuracy.
* Participate in Internal Quality Audit process to improve plant quality systems and GMP compliance.
* Support Operations with auditing, updating, and documenting compliance to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
* Conduct titration testing, verify chemical concentrations, and CIP dilution samples as needed.
* Troubleshoot issues as required.
* Perform finished product weight verifications and checks, including volumetric checks.
* Complete sensory analysis on finished products.
* Conduct investigative research on products or materials.
* Conduct ATP cleaning verification and line release process per shift requirements.
* Perform Environmental Swabbing as requested by QA Management.
* Set up documentation and complete sample shipments using proper shipping methods.
* Cover breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs as assigned.
* Comply with legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety.
* Work safely and report safety concerns promptly, taking corrective actions as needed.
* Report food safety problems and support SQF by maintaining food safety and quality.
* Ensure work areas are sanitary and adhere strictly to sanitation practices.
Essential Skills
* Ability to apply basic to complex mathematical concepts.
* Understanding of basic statistics and statistical process control.
* Respond appropriately to inquiries from employees, vendors, and customers.
* Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
* Knowledge of the company's mission, purpose, and goals.
* Ability to operate quality and facility equipment.
* Completion of all company training requirements.
* Interpretation of company documents and literature.
* Experience with Microsoft Windows and software architecture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum of GED or High School Diploma required.
* Associates degree in chemistry, biology, food science, or ag-tech science preferred.
* 6 months - 2 years of manufacturing/machine operation experience in the dairy/food industry preferred.
* SQF or similar quality systems experience preferred.
Work Environment
This position operates within a manufacturing and laboratory setting. Shift hours are from 6pm to 6:30am. The schedule alternates weekly between Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday on Week One, and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday on Week Two. The work environment requires adherence to GMP dress code standards, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation practices. Employees are expected to maintain a safe work environment and report any safety concerns promptly.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
