Who We Want
A college or university student heading into their junior or senior year majoring in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering. Perusing a minor in Quality preferred but not required.
What You’ll Do
Project Scope:
Control Plan Audit and Standardization Project
- Partnered with current QE’ s and the quality manager, review and update existing Control Plans for welding and stamping processes.
- Align Control Plans with current shop floor practices, PFMEAs, and process flow diagrams.
- Assist in standardizing Control Plan templates across departments and shifts.
- Conduct Gemba walks with production and quality techs to validate control points and measurement techniques.
PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) Optimization
- Support the team in reviewing and revising PFMEAs for high-volume weld and stamping processes.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to identify failure modes, root causes, and corrective actions.
- Ensure alignment between PFMEA, Control Plans, and SOPs for key components.
- Incorporate recent quality issues or customer complaints into updated PFMEAs.
Job Element Sheet (JES) Updates and Work Instruction Improvements
- Collaborate with operators and manufacturing engineers to review and update Job Element Sheets (JES) for critical stations.
- Create visual aids and standardized work instructions for weld inspection criteria and stamping defect identification.
- Assist in deploying updated JES documents across production areas with training support.

1st Shift / 8am – 5pm M-F position located at our
Pontiac, Michigan plant located at 2501 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac, MI, 48341
What You Need To Have
A college or university student heading into their junior or senior year majoring in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
- Must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor’s degree related to Quality preferred but not required from a accredited college or university
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the Internship program
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in global manufacturing environment
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
