Essential Responsibilities
Ensure quality requirements are implemented and within compliance of the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, FAA 14 CFR 145 and 21, and statutory, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Identify and record present or potential conditions that would have a detrimental effect on product, process, or the quality system and initiate corrective or preventive action procedures to address these conditions and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions. May include controlling or stopping further processing of product until corrective action has been satisfactorily implemented.
Investigate and determine root cause of non-conformances by initiating corrective or preventive action procedures and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions. Maintain, monitor, and report quality database to ensure timely completion of corrective action has been satisfactorily implemented.
Conduct failure analysis to determine the cause of specific defects with other departments, to prevent recurrence.
Develop, monitor, and post metrics to measure progress and improvements related to all quality related programs and initiatives.
Coordinate the interdepartmental efforts required to comply with quality assurance requirements.
Identify quality training needs and take steps to ensure training is provided.
Report on the performance of the quality system to management for review and as a basis for improvement of the quality system.
Communicate to all levels on the status of the quality management system.
Assist in general quality activities including control of quality records, monitor quality objectives at all levels, implement, monitor, and evaluation/disposition of non- conformances, audits (on site and internal).
Monitor and maintain instruments including instrument recall, instrument calibration, monitor and maintain process control testing, temperature uniformity surveys, burnouts, and leak ups.
Monitor and maintain outside processes including evaluation of suppliers, generating purchase orders, review certifications of conformances and review test reports.
Support in process and final inspection processes, receiving inspection, contract review, braze and heat treat, temper inspection, generate and sign certifications.
Conduct product and process audits to ensure finished goods conform to quality standards and expectations.
Coordinate with all departments to ensure products shipped conform to company quality standards, engineering specifications and customer requirements.
Review internal routing/tech plan to ensure customer compliance and quality
Create and review Certificates of Conformance for shipping parts, to ensure they are up to date and accurate.
Pass NDT Level 1 requirements when necessary
Pass metlab requirements when necessary
Other duties as assigned or dictated by position.
Qualifications And Experience
Engineering degree or equivalent.
Basic metallurgical knowledge obtained through formal university or college training or combination of training and experience.
NADCAP and AS9100 experience required.
Preferred five years experience in Quality Control and practical knowledge of commercial heat treatment of steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel, brass, copper, etc.
Familiar with commercial, aircraft, and aerospace specification, ASME and military specification codes as required.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
Requires effective verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with management and all levels, both in-house and at customer's place of business.
