Job Summary:

Assist in the achievement of, and support of the sales and production of Hanover Displays Destination Signs, Wayside signs, On-Board technology, and all other potential products in the transit market in North America.

Quality Department:

This is a full-time, salary exempt position located at corporate headquarters in North America.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·  Quality / Repair Department Technicians (2-5 employees)

Reporting Relationship: The Quality Control Supervisor reports directly to the Production Manager.  

Duties/Responsibilities: The Quality Control Supervisor will provide quality assurance support to the production team, resolving bugs, defects, and other potential issues and ensuring that products meet customer specifications. In addition, the QC Supervisor is to learn the current processes and procedures of the organization and work to continuously improve the company’s proactive quality protocol to eliminate time spent troubleshooting and inspecting reactively. Inclusive of but not limited to the following:

• Helps to Create and maintain documentation and plans for organizing Quality Standards
• Reviews design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
• Helps to define the quality standards both internally and with suppliers/vendors.
• Ensure products meet the organization’s and customers' quality and product integrity requirements.
• Supports product development by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
• Helps to Identify root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures.
• Analyzes data to identify product quality or defects trends to mitigate and prevent recurrence and future defects.

·        Works closely with the Production Manager on all process improvement and quality activities.

·        Work with management in all departments to ensure ISO 9001 certification is upheld.

·        Creates, reviews, and releases documentation.

·        Works with Production and Purchasing management to conduct vendor quality audits and visits, as well as internal audit programs.

·        Works with all parties involved in the First Article Approval process.

·        Communicates with company personnel, customers, and vendors.

·        Works closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure close working relationships with suppliers.

·        Works with management to perform Supplier Non-conformance processes and resulting CAP’s, 8D’s, etc. follow up where necessary.

·        Maintains customer SQP (Supplier Quality Portals): Nova, New Flyer

·        Maintains quality reporting dashboard or similar shared reporting structure.

·        Travel overseas to the parent organization to learn how that quality department functions and find inspiration for development in Elk Grove Village.

·        Assists in the achievement of and acts in support of the sales and production of company products.

·        Promotes awareness of customer and environmental requirements throughout the organization.

·        Communicates cross-functionally with all aspects of internal business and with external customers and vendors.

·        Flexibility in collaboration with the rest of the production team

·        Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe, and hazard-free.

·        Reports any observed or known safety hazards, conditions, or unsafe practices and procedures to management immediately.

·        Performs other related duties as assigned.

     Skills & Experience Required:

·        Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

·        Experience in engineering or electronic/mechanical background preferred.

·        Knowledge of process implementation and improvement.

·        Analytical skills (Reporting using Power BI, Excel Pivot Tables)

·        Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, Standards, and Processes

·        Proficient with MS Office including (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, Sharepoint, Powerpoint and Teams).

·        The ability to interpret PCB schematics and CAD drawings is highly desirable.

·        Experience with AutoCAD software is highly desirable.

·        Basic knowledge of MS Project and/or Project Management Software preferred.

·        Knowledge of ERP systems (AX Dynamics/D365) preferred.

·        Extremely detail-oriented and organized.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Standard manufacturing environment, clean and air-conditioned

·        Physical activity includes prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, walking up and down stairs, and using basic motor skills to access computer files for information, data entry, or document creation.

·        Must have excellent hand/eye coordination.

·        Must have manual dexterity to assemble products and complete computer-related tasks.

·        Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.

·        Operate electrical and handheld tools.

·        Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds.

·        Able to travel as needed.
