Stanbridge University is hiring an
on-site QA Engineering Manager to lead and scale the team that safeguards the quality of our custom PHP/Laravel + VueJS Learning Management System (LMS) and its supporting services. You'll work from our Irvine, CA headquarters, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to deliver high-quality releases that serve thousands of students and faculty.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and mentor a team of 4-6 QA engineers (manual, automation, performance); conduct 1-on-1s, set goals, and support career development.
- Own and execute the test strategy across manual, automation, performance, and accessibility testing.
- Drive automation expansion through Selenium/WebDriver suites, PHPUnit integration tests, and API test frameworks.
- Define and track quality metrics such as defect escape rate, test coverage, and CI pipeline pass rates; report trends to leadership.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to translate requirements into testable acceptance criteria and comprehensive test plans.
- Oversee CI pipeline quality gates to ensure automated tests run on every merge and failures are actionable.
- Manage ticket triage and the defect lifecycle using tools like Linear, YouTrack, or Azure Boards; prioritize issues based on risk and business impact.
- Champion continuous process improvements, including peer-review checklists, exploratory-testing charters, and documentation standards.
- Embed WCAG, OWASP, FERPA, and other compliance standards into QA workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- This is an on campus position located in Irvine Ca. On campus presence is requires
- 5+ years of experience in software QA, including 2+ years of team leadership or management.
- Proven success scaling test automation with tools such as Selenium/WebDriver, PHPUnit, or similar frameworks.
- Strong grasp of Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD best practices in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Hands-on experience reading/debugging PHP, Laravel, VueJS, JavaScript, and working with REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Ability to define and report quality KPIs via dashboards and executive-facing reports.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; thrives in a collaborative, on-site environment supported by Slack/Teams and Zoom.
- $90,000-$120,000/yr. Salary is dependent on experience and education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior QA leadership experience in EdTech, LMS, CMS, or other large-scale SaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling) and mobile testing frameworks (e.g., Appium).
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible and container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of analytics pipelines (e.g., xAPI, BigQuery) and test-data-management strategies.

- Standard office/classroom/lab or clinical setting
- Duties are typically performed while sitting at a desk or computer workstation
- May include time spent in skills labs or bedside environments as required by the program
- Subject to frequent interruptions, noise from talking or office equipment, and demanding timelines
