The Software QA Analyst is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality software applications by developing and executing test strategies and plans. This role supports the entire software development lifecycle, with a strong focus on test design, execution, and quality control.
Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in computer systems administration with a concentration in software quality assurance.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Required Skills and KnowledgeTechnical Proficiency:
Expertise in software testing methodologies including test planning, strategy development, scenario creation, and test case execution
Hands-on experience with SDLC documentation in both Waterfall and Agile environments
Skilled in tools and systems such as:
HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
LoadRunner, Unified Functional Testing (UFT)
Oracle Utilities Suite: Customer Care and Billing (CC&B)
Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems
Structured Query Language (SQL)
Familiarity With:
PSERM, Oracle Meter Data Management (MDM), AutoCAD, and Outage Management System (OMS)
Industry standards, organizational procedures, and legal/compliance guidelines
General Skills:
Strong understanding of software quality assurance practices
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information effectively (both written and verbal)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
Competent in performing arithmetic calculations including rates, ratios, and percentages
Key ResponsibilitiesTesting & Documentation:
Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans
Analyze project requirements and technical documentation to generate detailed test documentation: traceability matrices, test plans, scenarios, and test cases
Design, write, and execute both manual and automated test scripts
Test Execution & Quality Assurance:
Conduct various forms of testing: functional, regression, integration, performance, and load
Use tools such as HP ALM, LoadRunner, and UFT to execute testing activities
Configure and maintain test platforms and ensure test data integrity
Quality Control & Reporting:
Establish and monitor quality metrics, including test progress tracking with entry/exit criteria
Perform audits to assess adherence to QA standards and practices
Document acceptance criteria for client approval and support user acceptance testing
Participate in defect review sessions, assist with triage, and recommend appropriate resolutions
Prepare and deliver daily status updates and defect reports to stakeholders
Team & Administrative Support:
Attend and contribute to team meetings and project planning sessions
Perform other duties as assigned to support the quality assurance function
