Tesla's Energy & Charging Services organization operates and maintains deployed assets including North American commercial solar, global behind-the-meter & front-of-meter storage, and global electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The mission of the organization is to maximize fleet health and delight our customers while minimizing the cost of maintaining the fleet.
The Commercial Service Operations Quality and Compliance team partners with the Field Service organization to improve efficiency metrics by identifying causes/ trends in efficiency metrics, developing improvement solutions with Engineering, and implementing global field changes.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for reviewing and understanding voluminous amounts of data related to field service operations, discovering trends within that data, identifying root causes of those trends, and working cross functionally to implement the corrective actions and monitor their effectiveness. The successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. A successful candidate must be a professional problem solver, data driven, with quality and customer mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement.
* Manage and facilitate the root cause & corrective actions system through tracking and validation of issues and support in root cause analysis through brainstorming, use of lean methodologies, DMAIC, 8D, etc.
* Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop proactive and reactive maintenance strategies that enhance asset reliability
* Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the Tesla standards, specifications, and applicable codes
* Track performance metrics, prioritize top issues and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams
* Develop and maintain a proactive quality control system to effectively address and control service operations quality for current and future processes
* Provide regular feedback to stakeholders regarding efficiency trends, process compliance issues, and procedure updates that may arise
* Six Sigma or ASQ certification are preferred
* Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Engineering
* Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
* Technical understanding of solar systems and energy storage systems and understanding of electrical code/electrical theory
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex information and make data-driven decisions
* Data mining and database, e.g. MySQL experience
* Broad knowledge of quality principles and their application to engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning
