Title: Quality Assurance Engineer - Aerospace Component Manufacturer
Location: Livonia, MI 48150 (West Detroit)
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 + Relocation
Founded in 1942 we are a 2,000 employee global supplier of landing gear solutions for the aerospace market. Our headcount has increased 10% over the past 2 years as we continue to expand our product line and gain market share in the space (most of the growth was in engineering).
Our facility here in Livonia, Mi has 120 employees and operates within a 100,000 sqft facility. The quality team in this division consists of 4 engineers + Manager and is growing as a result of this opening. For this Quality Assurance Engineer position we're targeting to hire someone out of the aerospace industry who will lead P&L responsibilities for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs supporting Boeing, Lockheed, Parker Hannifin and the like.
What You Will Be Doing
- Participate w/ design engineering customer qualification testing of new & existing product to assure all supplied product is in compliance & matches customer requirements
- Act as POC for customer concerns & provide technical support as needed
- Initiate internal evaluations for customer concerns & lead investigations to remedy issues
- Communicate all relevant customer information incl: approved supplier lists, fixed & frozen requirements, etc and work w/ materials group to assure these requirements are flowed down to suppliers through P.O. submission
- Coordinate lab testing for suspect product or other customer testing requirements
- Participate internally for continuous improvement activity based on MRB, RMA & Kaizen events
- Participate in evaluation of new equipment for testing, inspection etc & make recommendations
- Responsible for contract review & RMA processes assuring all relevant customer requirements are legible & documented internally to assure company is in compliance
- Participate in internal audits
What You Need For This Position
- Bachelors in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or closely related field is ideal
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance (ideally in aerospace manufacturing)
- Ability to read & interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Strong AS9100 & audit requirement knowledge
- Ability to review & understand customer contract requirements
- Understanding of lean, six sigma, kaizen, continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience w/ various electronic drawing file formats & MS Office Suite / Adobe Acrobat
- Experience managing records w/i electronic document control system
