QA Automation Engineer – Guadalajara

HeyDonto is hiring a QA Automation Engineer to join our growing team in Guadalajara. We're building out a local team as we establish our presence in the area, and this role is a key part of that growth. You’ll help ensure quality across our healthcare data and AI platform by developing automated testing frameworks, leading manual QA efforts, and validating our data APIs and backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy and Release Planning

• Design comprehensive testing strategies for web applications and data-driven services
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to plan releases and define testing milestones
• Ensure test coverage aligns with product requirements and delivery timelines

Automation Framework and Test Development

• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks using Playwright
• Write clean, scalable test scripts using Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Adapt frameworks as products evolve to ensure testability

Manual QA and Test Case Management

• Lead manual QA activities including exploratory, UI, and usability testing
• Create and manage test cases using TestRail or a similar tool
• Improve manual testing processes for consistency and efficiency

Data API and Procedure Testing

• Test RESTful APIs and backend data flows for accuracy and consistency
• Validate complex data structures using both automated and manual approaches
• Apply strong understanding of data management best practices

CI/CD Integration

• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI
• Work closely with DevOps to optimize build and deployment processes

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Communicate QA metrics and progress clearly with stakeholders
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to resolve issues
• Advocate for software quality and continuous improvement

Ongoing Improvement

• Review and refine QA processes to improve reliability and efficiency
• Stay current with industry tools, trends, and testing methodologies

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Expertise

• Hands-on experience with Playwright
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Strong knowledge of data structures, JSON, and API testing
• Experience testing SQL and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with test case management tools like TestRail
• Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines and Git version control

Soft Skills

• Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
• Effective communicator and team collaborator
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with performance, security, or load testing tools
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of TDD or BDD methodologies
• Exposure to Big Data environments or ETL pipelines
• Software testing certifications (e.g., ISTQB)
