Summary

QA Test Engineer 

Bluedrop Medical are developing the next generation of medical devices for chronic disease management based on machine vision systems, novel sensing arrays and state of the art cloud-based technologies. 

 

We are seeking an QA Test Engineer to join our R&D team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and performance of our software and firmware used in medical devices. You will work closely with software engineers, hardware teams, and quality professionals to develop, execute, and automate tests across our platforms. 

 

To meet increasing demand for our product with major wound care partners we need to overcome operational scaling challenges in other product development teams and projects. We have an existing capability in terms of software development, image processing, R&D that is world-class. We want to leverage an agile approach to medical product development to build an organisation that can scale operationally while maintaining a culture of rigour, speed and efficiency built on modern development approaches.  

 

The QA Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting the following activities. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software systems. 
  • Perform manual and automated testing, including functional, integration, regression, and system-level tests. 
  • Set up and use test environments (including hardware-in-the-loop or simulation environments, where applicable). 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough verification and validation of software. 
  • Identify, document, and track software defects and issues using tools like JIRA, SpiraTeam, or similar. 
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated test frameworks and tools (e.g., using Python, Shell, C/C++, or pytest). 
  • Support the creation of traceability matrices, verification documentation, and test reports as part of the software development lifecycle. 
  • Participate in design and code reviews, quality assurance planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. 


Skills and Expertise: 

Essential skills and experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in software or firmware testing. 
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, C/C++). 
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and tools. 
  • Experience with debugging and analysis tools (e.g., log analyzers, JTAG, UART, network analyzers). 
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI). 
  • Solid documentation, analytical, and communication skills. 

 

Desired experience 

  • Experience in the medical device industry or with ISO 13485, IEC 62304, or FDA 21 CFR Part 820. 
  • Experience with version control, test coverage tools, static analysis, or code quality metrics. 
  • Experience working with embedded systems.
