Python Backend Engineer


ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a highly skilled Python Backend Engineer to join an AI-driven initiative within the Finance domain. This is a 100% individual contributor role focused on building enterprise-level applications handling highly sensitive financial data. You will be hands-on in backend development, creating scalable web applications, and working with Generative AI models (though not necessarily as a Machine Learning Engineer). This is a major initiative with a 3-4 year roadmap, offering an opportunity to work in a high-impact environment where technical expertise, scalable solutions, and a passion for innovation are critical to success.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
You will work as part of a specialized AI team, designing and building scalable, reliable backend solutions for critical finance and business use cases. This includes:

• Backend development using Python and FastAPI, focused on scalable, distributed web applications.
• Working with open-source Gen AI frameworks and integrating AI agents, LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face models, and more into applications.
• Deploying and managing distributed systems and asynchronous architectures in AWS cloud environments.
• Designing solutions that minimize scalability issues, improve performance, and meet stringent enterprise reliability standards.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS (top 3 must haves)

• Python Backend Development
  • 4-6 years of hands-on backend experience with Python.
  • Expertise in building scalable web applications using FastAPI.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous systems and distributed system design.
  • Experience deploying backend services in AWS environments.
• Generative AI Framework Familiarity
  • Working knowledge of open-source Gen AI models (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face, Gemini).
  • Ability to prototype using DAGs and integrate Gen AI models with Python applications.
  • Understanding of AI Agents and how to fine-tune and optimize LLMs.
  • Comfortable using agent frameworks to build scalable AI-enabled solutions.
• Cloud Ecosystem and Deployment Expertise
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Dockerization/Containerization).
  • End-to-end deployment of backend applications in AWS cloud environments.
  • Basic understanding of networking policies and cloud infrastructure management.

NICE TO HAVES

• Machine Learning experience, particularly around model training and optimization.
• Experience with Java or Scala.
• Full-stack development background, particularly service-layer work with Python.
• Deeper understanding of AWS platform networking, container deployment strategies, and managed platform solutions.
