Role Summary As Purchasing Manager, you will have responsibility for the site purchasing operation, including control of ethical sourcing, purchasing process, whilst adhering to WMFTSs sustainability and One Planet agendas. This will mean working with purchasing and supply chain colleagues within Watson Marlow and Spirax Group to deliver world-class supply chain & purchasing initiatives. We operate in a matrix organisation; you'll have reporting lines to the WMFTS Global Purchasing Manager. What you'll be doing * You will ensure the success of your team by effective line management. Including welfare, agreed roles & responsibilities, objectives and priorities with regular team meetings and 1-2-1's. Supported, as required with suitable skill development and coaching & mentoring * Negotiate contracts with suppliers and analyze purchasing data & trends to optimize cost efficiency for direct and indirect materials and services * Drive continuous improvement for key processes & systems that support the team, to build on added-value and to remove waste, initially through improved manual routines and then through the appropriate adoption of digital tools. Improvement of the 'Purchasing Cycle' will be a key enabler. * Work with Group Purchasing to develop and align purchasing strategies, measuring and analysing QCD performance through PI & KPIs * Build effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers, overseeing and ensuring best practice is maintained throughout the purchasing operation * You will ensure supplier related system parameters are up to date, including supplier LT's, MOQ's & pricing at agreed contract rates, and be responsible providing costing information for our annual cost roll * You will ensure that purchasing processes meet legal requirements and standards and are compliant with internal policies including Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy, The Group Management Code and our Sustainability & compliance requirements * Drive innovation and automation in our purchasing and supply chain processes with the development of data analytics for the above and implementation of suitable root cause analysis tools to ensure 'failure' issues are, where possible, eliminated * Support the wider Supply Chain team to drive higher levels of departmental performance and contribution to overall business performance through effective relationship building, collaboration and aligning and delivering key objectives * You will champion and have oversight for second sourcing strategies across the range of products supported by the US based regional manufacturing facility in Devens Skills/Experience * Demonstrable experience in working in a global matrix organization is advantageous * Experience of managing a team through change is essential * Purchasing within a manufacturing environment especially process industries and/or automotive, medical devices, Aerospace, consumer electronics, is highly advantageous * Experience with negotiating contracts with suppliers and analyzing purchasing data & trends to optimize cost efficiency for direct and indirect materials and services * Degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or equivalent and/or qualified by experience * Strong ERP experience * Significant experience in maintaining effective and productive relationships with external and internal customers and suppliers * Experience of "Total Cost of Ownership" cost models and importation processes including taxes and duty. * APICs or CIPS qualified is advantageous although not essential At Watson-Marlow, we believe in taking care of our colleagues.
