Overview
We are seeking an Account Director to join our Corporate Practice. In this position, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of your accounts while coaching and supporting more junior employees. We expect Account Directors to be well-versed in integrated marketing and communications opportunities that can help better support and address our clients’ growing needs.
This person will play an active role in additional efforts outside day-to-day account work including new business, agency marketing, employee development and coaching, trainings, and more.
Responsibilities
- Act as a day-to-day client lead contact, driving implementation of strategy and tactics, especially in the areas of executive thought leadership and executive communications.
- Develop integrated communications programs for clients that encompass cross-channel opportunities, including earned, owned, and social.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives, aligning communications efforts with broader business objectives.
- Provide senior-level counsel to clients and develop messaging that resonates with executive audiences.
- Identify clients’ evolving needs and align with agency offerings to deliver added value.
- Manage account teams to drive measurable results and continuously evaluate overall account success against KPIs.
- Monitor and track account budgets and team hours against scopes of work on a mid-month and monthly basis.
- Oversee development and implementation of integrated strategies, providing direction and support for account managers and senior account executives.
- Contribute to Allison’s culture (e.g., employee experience, DEI, professional development).
- Define roles and responsibilities for account teams and adjust as needed to drive efficiency and growth.
- Coach account team members and direct reports to strengthen and develop core skillsets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities; lead RFP responses, pitch preparation, and presentations.
- Promote and uphold Allison’s core values; participate in agency-wide training and professional development programs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a manager, supervisor or director in public relations, marketing or a related field. Account Directors at Allison typically have a minimum of 7+ years of experience.
- Deep expertise in executive communications and thought leadership, with demonstrated ability to counsel senior leaders and develop impactful, high-level content.
- Experience with corpsumer (corporate comms for consumer brands), professional services, and/or workplace communications clients strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the editorial and social media landscape with an ability to advise account teams on best practices in storytelling.
- Prior experience in budget management preferred.
- Creative problem-solver deft in identifying greater opportunities for integration between departments and teams.
- Results-driven with the ability to deliver comprehensive measurement programs for clients.
- Experience in team and account management, as well as direct management, preferred.

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, we believe the target range of base compensation in all locations within the United States for this role is $90k-$135k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
