Reports To: Camp Director
Supervises: Campers ages 3-12
Rate: $35-40/hour
Principal Responsibilities
Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques. The instructor will teach beginning through advanced levels to campers ages 3-12. The position develops knowledge, skills, talents, and creates awareness, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ interests and abilities. The instructor is also responsible for supervising students, keeping a safe atmosphere and leading activities and games.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
- Provides swim instruction
- Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents; rescues and administers first aid when necessary
- Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues
- Evaluates students' progress and completes paperwork timely
- Ability to work with children ages 3 to 12 years
- Problem solver and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older; have 1-2 years of previous aquatic teaching experience and a competitive swimming background is a plus
- Must have current certifications as a water safety instructor Safety Standards The safety of our swimmers and team members is of the utmost importance. Children’s Academy follows all CDC and WHO safety standards along with following any local guidelines.
