Job Summary:

Concord Health, an out-patient psychiatric practice in Clearwater, Florida, is seeking a full-time, Psychiatric Medical Assistant to join our compassionate team. Our practice offers customized, affordable care, integrating traditional psychiatry with innovative treatments like Spravato and ketamine therapy. The Psychiatric Medical Assistant supports psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in delivering high-quality psychiatric care to patients. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient operation of psychiatric services. The assistant works closely with patients to provide front desk support, help manage treatment plans and assist in maintaining accurate medical records in accordance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Greet and prepare patients for psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments for both medication management and psychotherapy.

·       Record vital signs and assist with ketamine therapies under the direction of licensed providers.

·       Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

·       Assist in administering medications under physician supervision and monitor patient responses.

·       Schedule appointments, manage follow-ups, and coordinate care between multiple providers when needed.

·       Support crisis intervention efforts by alerting appropriate clinical staff and following safety protocols.

·       Ensure compliance with confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and clinical policies.

·       Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including sanitizing rooms and equipment.

·       Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

·       Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.

·       Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting is strongly preferred.

·       Knowledge of psychiatric terminology, mental health diagnoses, and medication management practices.

·       Excellent interpersonal and warm communication skills, especially with patients experiencing emotional distress.

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and respond to emergency situations calmly.

·       Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a major plus.

·       Proficient use of basic computer applications – Microsoft apps, search engines, scanning, etc.

·       Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

• Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
