Job Title: Survey Crew Chief
Job Description
A motivated and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief is needed to join a dynamic team in Indianapolis. This non-licensed position will be based at the corporate headquarters and will involve a variety of surveying tasks including topographic surveys, easement work, and structural measure downs. The role involves working closely with licensed surveyors and project managers to ensure accurate and timely completion of surveying projects using advanced Trimble equipment.
Responsibilities
* Assist and perform topographic surveys to gather elevation and boundary data for development projects.
* Work on easement tasks alongside the Survey Manager, identifying and documenting property boundaries and rights-of-way.
* Perform structural measure downs and provide detailed measurements and documentation for various structures.
* Prepare field notes, data, and photos for review by licensed surveyors and project teams.
* Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to support project requirements.
* Assist in supporting other offices with surveys.
Essential Skills
* Minimum of 3 years field experience operating and performing surveys.
* Ability to work as a crew chief independently.
* Experience in processing survey field data and using Civil 3D.
* Valid driver's license.
* Ability to travel to project sites and stay overnight if needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D is highly desirable.
* Experience in creating surfaces in Civil 3D is a significant advantage.
Work Environment
The work involves being in the field 90% of the time and 10% in the office. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with some flexibility to work Monday through Thursday for longer days depending on project needs. Typically, the workweek will be 40-45 hours, with overtime paid as straight time for permanent employees. Travel expenses, including mileage, hotel, and per diem, are provided for project sites over 80 miles from the home office. A company vehicle will be provided for permanent employees. The team is based in Indianapolis and consists of three members.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
