Your impact

The Jacobs team is seeking a creative, highly motivated Project Manager/Structural Engineer to lead and support the delivery of local, regional and national projects working out of the St. Louis, Missouri office.

As a key member of our team, you’ll have the chance to work as a Structural Engineer and Project/Task Manager, primarily on coastal and riverine flood control and lock & dam projects for our U.S. Army Corps of Engineers client. You will take on responsibilities for designing, planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of projects from the feasibility/concept stage through detailed design and into construction phase services. You will have the opportunity to develop proposals, negotiate hours, develop and maintain schedules and budgets, provide technical engineering expertise, direct and mentor project staff, and ensure quality reviews are completed. You will assist in managing external client relationships as well as lead and participate in business development initiatives when required.

In this role, you will be responsible for

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership and oversee all aspects of projects.
  • Assist with business development opportunities.
  • Have overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, contract management/control and profitability of the project.
  • Be responsible for decision making regarding technical approaches, risk management, status reporting and escalation of issues that cannot be resolved by the team.
  • Be responsible for organizing and utilizing staff to ensure the quality of work performed.
  • Organize and manage subconsultants.
  • Represent Jacobs at meetings, presentations, and public hearings for assigned projects.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with clients and focus on client service and satisfaction that leads to repeat business.
  • Track upcoming project opportunities, collaborate on project pursuits and assist in marketing and business development efforts.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (structural, civil and/or geotechnical emphasis).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Substantial years of experience in management of projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.


Ideally, you'll also have

  • Strong background in design of heavy civil engineering works.
  • Familiarity working with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers documentation – Engineering Manuals (EM), Engineering Regulations (ER), Engineering Technical Letters (ETL), Engineering Circulars (EC), Engineering and Construction Bulletins (ECB).
  • Familiarity with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers drawing, specification and cost estimating processes and software is desirable - Bentley software (Microstation, OpenRoads, etc), SpecsIntact, MCACES/MII.
  • Existing contacts and strong relationships with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel.  
  • Experience with stakeholder relationships is desirable.
  • Engaged in professional organizations.

109,100.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

150,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $109,100.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
