Purpose
The Project Manager reporting to the Director of Global Clinical Evaluation, will lead strategic oversight and process governance for project management activities associated with essential medical and regulatory documentation for J&J MedTech Surgery, including Clinical Evaluations, Literature Reviews, and Periodic Safety Update Reports. This individual will identify, plan, and implement process improvement initiatives that promote agility and efficiency across the team’s cross-functional collaborations and responsibilities. The Project Manager will focus on real-time traceability of progress toward key business goals and objectives and effective communication among team members as well as senior leadership
You Will Be Responsible For
- Leads end to end project management activities including project plan development, dashboard generation, metrics tracking, risk identification and mitigations, resource planning, and development of communication strategies.
- Supports a team of scientists, engineers, and medical professionals via attaining supporting documentation/data and defining project milestones. Prioritizes and navigates competing demands and projects.
- Provides effective optimization and harmonization of processes within technical writing, medical writing, and safety reporting teams, incorporating process excellence tools while aligning with available procedures and guidelines. Supports creation of project value propositions, as needed.
- Identifies, plans, and implements process improvement initiatives across multiple businesses/portfolios, demonstrating project management expertise and business intuition to expand the Global Clinical Evaluation team's impact and efficacy in a highly cross-functional environment.
- Leads regular business cycle activities including management of statements of work, purchase orders, invoicing, accruals, business planning, and vendor management.
- Provides strong connectivity with Medical Affairs, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Affairs partners and leverages capabilities from the MedTech Scientific Office Central Team across franchises to drive consistency and results.
- Provides change management expertise to support procedural and workflow changes.
- Defines, maintains, and monitors metrics relevant to the Global Clinical Evaluation team’s activities and adjacent teams/functions, providing real-time progress tracking and visibility of issues to enable corrective and preventive action to be taken, as needed.
- Assesses and confers with management on technological changes, market trends, and competitive project management processes and industry-best operating practices.
- Communicates proactively with senior leadership through portfolio expansion and management lifecycles.
- Collaborates with the Global Clinical Evaluation leadership team to schedule and facilitate applicable regulatory submissions and inquiries.
- Ensures deliverables are linked to appropriate regulatory processes to ensure information is traceable and accessible, where needed. Supports document creation, preparation, routing, and management.
- Onboards and provide active coaching to new project managers and project coordinators. Responsible for ongoing oversight of Project Management teams to ensure adherence to best practices and implementation of process changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree, MBA or MS, preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Process Excellence training or certification highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong focus on regulatory documentation and compliance.
- Proficiency with project management methodologies and project planning tools such as Wrike (highly preferred), MS Project, or Smartsheet.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
- Exceptional communication and social skills across different organization levels.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of clinical evaluation, literature reviews, and/or safety reporting inputs and requirements preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$105,000-$160,000. California Bay Area: $121,000-$190,000
Additional Description For Pay Transparency
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
