Summary

Progress Public Affairs - Project Manager

Hybrid - San Francisco, CA

We are a leading Bay Area public affairs consultancy specializing in strategic communications, community engagement, and political advocacy. We seek a colleague who’s in the early part of their career to support, learn from, and grow with our remarkable team of strategists, advocates, and communicators.

Our winning candidate is a well-organized strategic thinker who likes to solve problems, and is motivated by the idea of building relationships and performing at a high level. We want to hire someone with confidence in their own skills but works well on a team, likes to network, keeps their ear to the ground, and reads a lot of news. We are looking for someone who is a solid writer and an excellent verbal communicator, sweats the details, and is unafraid of complex challenges and hard work on high-stakes civic issues. Most importantly, we want someone who has an unwavering commitment to political and personal ethics.

Our ideal candidate is engaged in or deeply interested in local Bay Area politics or media - or both. You'll come to us with at least a basic working knowledge of this landscape and the ability to identify a client's story and their challenges. As you work with us, we'll train you in the nuances of strategy, and teach you how we serve our clients. Our clients are dissimilar and unique – we serve each according to their needs and goals. Some are nonprofits and government agencies, and others are startups and Fortune 500 companies - we want to hire someone who’s capable of managing projects for clients both big and small. Rather than having a standard playbook for the way we serve our clients, we create an original plan. We'll teach you how to do this - and challenge you at every turn to grow your skill set.

We are looking especially for candidates who:

  • Are gifted at writing and can write both quickly and persuasively - and don’t mind feedback to get even better
  • Follow local politics and media and take it upon yourself to network - and ideally have some experience in political or community organizing
  • Have social media savvy - and a bonus if you dabble in basic graphic design
  • Are organized and proactive and comfortable acting as the hub for a team - making sure that projects keep moving

Thank you for reading this, and considering whether you might be a good fit.
