Job Summary

As a Project Manager specializing in owner’s representation for construction projects in San Diego, you will play a key role in managing all phases of project delivery on behalf of our clients. This position requires strong expertise in construction means and methods, cost management, commercial controls, and design management. You will work closely with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure that projects are executed efficiently, completed on schedule, maintained within budget, and delivered to the highest quality and safety standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, managing daily activities, site progress, quality assurance, and compliance with plans and safety regulations.
  • Advise on construction means, methods, sequencing, and logistics to optimize project execution and minimize disruption to operations.
  • Lead cost management activities, including reviewing contractor pay applications, negotiating change orders, tracking budgets, and managing contingency usage.
  • Support contract administration and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with contract terms and leading negotiations related to change orders, claims, and disputes.
  • Act as the primary representative for the owner, fostering collaboration among contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to drive decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Manage design coordination efforts, ensuring that design deliverables align with project scope, budget, and schedule, while facilitating meetings and driving resolution of outstanding design issues.
  • Oversee design reviews and permitting processes, coordinating across disciplines to minimize design gaps and ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Provide regular, clear project reporting on schedule, cost, risks, and key decisions to client leadership teams.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, ensuring that quality standards and project objectives are consistently achieved.


Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in the construction industry, preferably in an Owner’s Representative role and/or managing healthcare, life sciences, or complex occupied site projects.
  • Deep understanding of construction practices, design management, cost controls, and permitting processes.
  • Strong experience in reviewing and negotiating pay applications, change orders, and project budgets.
  • Familiarity with project delivery models such as CM-at-Risk, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build.
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, e-Builder, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.


Candidate Differentiators

  • AIA, CCM, or PE certification


Working Conditions

  • Flexible work environment with typical work schedule from 8:00a – 5:00p.
  • Ability to travel to various construction sites within the San Diego area.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and navigate uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, and access tight spaces as required.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction sites and identify potential hazards.
  • Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-stress situations.


Employment Status

Full-time salaried/exempt


Pay Range

$140,000 – $170,000 annual salary

Offered salary will be based on factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
