We are looking for a an ambitious, motivated and results orientated Project Manager to join our team in Screening Solutions – Regional Supply Africa.

The role will report into the Supply Chain Manager. The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

Purpose of the role:

  • Support Capital Sales and Aftermarket on capital equipment and large-scale aftermarket orders ensuring the efficient execution of project related tasks to meet objectives in accordance with the customers’ requirements. The role serves as a key liaison between multiple departments, maintaining a high level of communication, organization, and attention to detail across all stages of the project. The position is responsible for overseeing that all processes, documents, schedules, approvals, and invoicing are managed effectively, and in accordance with internal and customer-specific requirements.

The job responsibilities:

  • Review customer tender requirements and technical specifications to ensure that the project requirements are outlined in the proposal.
  • Review project documents on order placement- scope of work, technical, quality and commercial requirements.
  • Co-ordinate resources and deliverables with internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate general arrangement drawing approvals.
  • Review and ensure correct material allocations on Syspro versus the drawing and Bill of Materials.
  • Attend customer’s kick-off and progress meetings.
  • Coordinate Internal kick-off meetings.
  • Submit complete and up to date project schedules.
  • Submit progress reports & schedules to customers.
  • Manage mid-project changes to the scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Consult with Finance on submission of project milestone invoices.
  • Review labour hours and costs in line with the sales cost.
  • Facilitate job closing and invoicing.
  • Co-ordinate customer inspections and tests with Operational & Quality departments.
  • Liaise with the Freight department regarding customer’s packing and transport Incoterm requirements.
  • Review and submit supplier document as per project data requirement list.
  • Document management i.e., Quality documents, manuals, spares list on customer’s document control portals.

EHS Responsibilities

  • Live the Sandvik EHS Culture and adhere to EHS management system requirements.
  • Report on instances of non-adherence, unsafe or unhealthy practices.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Project Management, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certifications is an advantage.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Project Management
  • Must have a strong combination of technical knowledge, stakeholder management skills, and customer interfacing experience.

Other Requirements & Competencies

  • Expertise in creating and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Proficiency in project management software like Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar tools.
  • Substantial Project Management experience is essential in the manufacturing industry, ideally with experience in equipment and large-scale aftermarket projects.
  • Transportation and Shipping of Out of gauge /abnormal goods is advantageous.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of internal or external business requirements to manage key stakeholders within the project.
  • Strong negotiation to influence internal/external stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, receives minimal guidance.
  • Must be able to manage a diversity of functions / multi- tasking.
  • Structured analytical approach and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced competency level in business software packages.
  • Good people and communication skills.
  • Customer Centric
  • Valid driver’s license
