Summary

Field Project Manager (FPM) – Onsite (New York City, NY)

KeenLogic is seeking to hire a Field Project Manager (FPM) to support the Department of Education’s Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Project. The Field Project Manager (FPM) will oversee day-to-day activities to support the Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Project, a comprehensivenetworkupgrade/refreshinitiativeacrossDOEsites.TheFPMwillmanagetheintegrationandinstallationofnetwork infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems.

This is a full-time position offering Fortune 500-level health/dental/vision, PTO, 401k, and Life Insurance. FPMs are expected to travel to school locations across the five boroughs and maintain flexibility for after-school hours and occasional off-hour work.

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week. When feasible, work will be performed during administrative business hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM). However, site integrations typically take place after school hours from 2:30 PM onwards, and the candidate will be required to provide after-hours technical support.

Equipment: Candidates must have their ownlaptop and cellphone. DOE does not provide equipment.

Background and Purpose:

The DOE serves over 900,000 students annually, enabling educational success through technology, hardware, software, and telecommunications. The Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) is dedicated to supporting equity and excellence with minimal disruptions, ensuring that staff and students have access to the technology and resources necessary for high-quality education.

The CCU Project aims to enhance network infrastructure to create dynamic and engaging learning environments. As education evolves with online, remote, and blended learning, the demand for network upgrades increases. Initiatives like computer-based testing, the rise in mobile devices, and the one-to-one student-computer ratio require a robust infrastructure to support them.

Technological tools such as virtual classrooms, online learning platforms, and parent engagement apps are essential to achieving the Chancellor’s goals of Equity and Excellence, ensuring all students, parents, and teachers have equal access to education.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of project management experience in the data networking industry
  • 6+ years of onsite field project management in network infrastructure installation and deployment
  • 5+ years of customer service experience in client-facing roles
  • 6+ years of experience documenting project deliverables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on process and quality
  • Daily availability for onsite travel across the five boroughs of NYC

Job Duties:

  • Project Oversight: Manage the integrationof networkand cabling infrastructure atassigned DOEsites
  • VendorCoordination: Serve as the primarypoint ofcontactfor fieldvendors, ensuringprojectgoalsandtimelinesaremet
  • SiteCoordination:ConductsitesurveyswithDOEandintegrationvendors,gatherrequirements,andensurethesiterefresh meets DOE standards
  • Documentation:Maintainthoroughrecords,includingsitesurveys,BillsofMaterial(BOM),requirementvalidation,and risk/issues logs. Ensure timely updates on projectstatus and resolutions totheDOE Program Manager
  • Collaboration: Act as the liaison betweentheDOE, schools,andvendors forthe network integration process
  • SiteMeetings:Coordinateandmanageexternalon-sitemeetingswithvendorsandschoolpersonnel,ensuringsmoothproject execution
  • Project Repository Management:Maintainandupdatethecentralrepository for allCCUprojectdocuments
  • Compliance:EnsurecompliancewithDOEfiscalandcapitalrequirementsthroughaccurateprojectdocumentationandtimely updates

ITProjectManagementResponsibilities:

  • Lead andmanage IT projects ensuring timely,budget-compliant delivery that aligns with NYC DOEgoals
  • Oversee requirements assessments, develop floor plans, and create detailed work plans for each site
  • Coordinate with school custodians and vendors to ensure smooth cable (copper andfiber)installation
  • Ensure safe workingconditions,including checking for AHERA(AsbestosHazard EmergencyResponseAct) hazards
  • Review and authorize permitsandoversee all physicalwork schedules
  • Maintain inventory records for newandoldequipment,ensuring properdocumentation of materials andpartsused
  • Manage acceptance procedures and coordinatewith integrators and cable vendors to ensure successful projectdelivery
  • Shareupdates and critical information with school site leaders before, during,andafterimplementation
  • Review and manage punch lists, obtaining sign-offs from school leadershiponcethe project iscomplete
