As a Project / Portfolio Manager Innovation, you will support Project Team Leaders (PTLs), our senior technical experts, by bringing specialized PMO skills, structured methodologies, and robust project management tools to our innovation project teams.
About You:
You'll ensure smooth project execution by providing guidance, best practices, critical path analysis, resource management support, and comprehensive risk management. Additionally, you will assist the Head of PMO - Innovation in developing, maintaining, and optimizing PMO processes and tools, enabling effective pipeline analysis and strategic decision-making. This role is pivotal in enabling our technical experts to excel in delivering cutting-edge R&D projects aligned strategically to Nutreco's innovation goals.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of PMO - Innovation in developing and managing PMO processes for effective pipeline analysis and decision-making.
- Act as a key support partner to Project Team Leaders, enabling them to focus on technical and scientific aspects.
- Provide coaching and guidance to PTLs on project management methodologies, processes, and tools.
- Facilitate project planning, critical path analysis, and ensure rigorous management of project milestones and deliverables.
- Systematically monitor and report project performance metrics, proactively addressing risks and issues.
- Optimize resource planning, highlighting conflicts or bottlenecks, and coordinate resolutions across functions.
- Foster seamless communication between project teams, functional departments, and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Champion continuous improvement in PMO processes and tools, adapted specifically for dynamic innovation projects.
- Manage, as needed, external partnerships and relationships with R&D collaborators, universities, or joint ventures to leverage external innovation capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant discipline (Science, Business, Engineering).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in project management roles within Life Sciences, Animal Nutrition, or similarly innovation-driven industries.
- Strong proficiency in structured project management methodologies (e.g., PMI standards).
- PMP Certification (Project Management Professional) or equivalent PM certification.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to build relationships across various organizational levels.
- Solid analytical, reporting, and risk management capabilities.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a science-based field (Animal Nutrition, Life Sciences, Biology).
- Professional background within Livestock or Animal Nutrition industries.
- Experience managing external innovation partnerships (e.g., universities, joint ventures).
- Familiarity with PMO tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or Asana.
- Additional certifications in Agile, Lean Six Sigma, or Innovation Management methodologies.
- Prior experience working in multinational and cross-cultural team environments.
