Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of large-scale, large-complexity strategic capital distribution, substation, business and technology projects. Effectively collaborates with internal departments, stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and vendors to define requirements, assess alternatives and present solutions to business challenges. Responsible for development of work scope, budget, schedule, resource requirements, and project risk management. Acts as primary point of contact for all economic and regulatory issues for assigned projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
* Develops and maintains project parameters and requirements. Manages all activities leading to the successful completion of projects including project scoping, timelines, cost estimates, design and construction coordination. Analyzes and determines regulatory impacts and requirements of the project. Builds business cases and project justifications.
* Responsible for management of one or more programmatic blanket and/or specific project budgets, forecasting, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
* Testifies before and/or prepares supporting documentation for CPUC and other government agencies concerning cost estimates.
* Schedules and facilitates project initiation job walks, pre-construction bid meetings, recurring onsite construction status meetings, and other project related field meetings.
* Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Hybrid Schedule:
* Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
* Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Business, related field, or equivalent training and experience.
* 6 years project management or related experience.
* Project management knowledge required.
* Must be able to assess the potential financial impact of a project to the Company.
* Must possess the ability to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions
* Utility substation and/or distribution construction project management knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's Degree MBA or advanced degree.
* Project management certification.
* MS Project, Primavera (P6), or equivalent project management planning tools
* Project specific SAP, TM1, or related enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience
* A strong understanding of utility substation, distribution and transmission project capitalization policies is highly desirable
