About the Position


The Project Manager position plays a critical role in our team’s success. This position is located in Houston, Texas, at our headquarters, and will contribute to Public Management, Inc.’s mission of Building Vibrant and Sustainable Communities. While the role involves general project management competencies, it is important to note that our work is specifically rooted in infrastructure project management. We primarily serve cities, counties, and municipalities, supporting them in delivering essential public infrastructure improvements—this is not general or corporate project management, but focused, community-driven work in the public sector.

Some of the roles and responsibilities for this position include:

  • Manage compliance and the successful administration of client projects;
  • Provide quality control review and maintain accurate filing systems on assigned projects;
  • Prepare compliance documentation, track project status, and update staff reports;
  • Develop grant applications and perform research for federal and state programs;
  • Complete program compliance monitoring associated with applicable federal and state regulations;
  • Manage and advise procurement and purchasing needs of clients;
  • Develop and present field evaluations and assessments;
  • Attend and lead workshops and information seminars related to job duties;
  • Day Travel approximately 35% of the year/Occasional overnight travel;
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.

The Ideal Candidate


We’re looking for a detail-oriented individual with strong communication, research, and analytical skills. The right candidate will possess:


•      A solid understanding of local government functions.

•      The ability to adapt to changing program regulations.

•      Experience leading interdisciplinary teams, including engineers and government staff.

•      Independence and motivation to work with minimal supervision.

•      Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.


Education and Experience


•      Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, or Social Sciences.

•      2–4 years of public sector experience (preferably local government), or 2 years in the private sector.

•      Strong administrative, time management, and project prioritization skills.

•      Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
