EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITY AVAILABLE IN ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY *MUST READ IN FULL* The Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District is seeking a motivated and environmentally conscious Project Manager that is interested in pursuing a career involving the responsible management of solid waste & recycling as valuable resources. This is a dynamic, in-person position that involves a variety of responsibilities and coordination with all levels of our operation. Our District manages an integrated solid waste management plan for the City of New Bedford and the Town of Dartmouth and is committed to the responsible and economical management of solid waste. We own and operate the award-winning Crapo Hill Landfill, a fully lined MSW landfill with a landfill gas-to-energy system and power plant on site that creates renewable energy from the decomposition of waste entering the landfill. We have staff dedicated to the implementation and management of innovative programs to educate the public on the importance of proper waste management, reduce the overall amount of waste being generated, increase the quality and quantity of recyclables in our area, find outlets for the reuse or recycling of additional materials, and to extend the life of the landfill for the benefit of our member communities. The ideal candidate will have: · A passion for sustainability and environmental protection and a commitment to developing solutions for solid waste management issues (including waste reduction, recycling, and environmental protection) · A bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil/environmental preferred), environmental science, or related field. Prior experience managing environmental projects, budgets, and personnel, or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Initiative · Problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills · A desire to serve the public We offer a starting salary of $70,000-$80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, with opportunity for advancement.
