About this job: Manages facility design maintenance and construction projects for the Facility Support Services Division. Plans, organizes, coordinates, evaluates and directs activities of specific projects in areas of specialization such as mechanical and electrical engineering, HVAC, Environmental engineering, Landscaping and other service contract providers. Ensures that the District's buildings are safe, aesthetically pleasing, economically maintainable, energy efficient, and functionally sound to meet all programmatic requirements. What You'll Do: * Carry out assigned directions related to critical maintenance/repair projects, remodeling and repair of facilities, and facility planning. * Direct the preparation of drawings and specifications for remodeling, and repairs in cooperation with administrators and school staff, the community, and professional architects and engineers. * Manage the selection of needed vendors to perform work. * Direct contracted entities or individuals to manage and control building systems and materials and to verify compatibility with DPS standards and program requirements. * Review building code requirements and code compliance of contract documents. * Review design progress documents and construction contract documents. * Manage project costs and schedule of design consultant and contractors. * Participate in design meetings to assure all user requirements are communicated to the architect. * Review and recommend for approval architect, construction consultant, and construction contractor pay requests. * Manage project construction costs and schedules, and direct appropriate actions to maintain project budget and progress. * Maintain liaison with State and City Building Code agencies, contractors' organizations, and architects, in connection with school construction projects. * Manage all internal communications in regards to project work and schedule with end users such as, but not limited to operations and maintenance, principals, QA/QC teams public relations/community relations. * Perform any internal systems update to track project scopes, costs and schedule throughout the duration of the project. * Manage the complete closeout of each project, including the receipt of as-built drawings from the contractor to the architect/engineer to ensure DPS receives complete and accurate documentation from the architects/engineers on each project. This shall also include the management and turnover of all warranties to internal DPS staff. * Perform other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: * Preferred: Master's Degree in architecture or mechanical engineering * Required: High School Diploma/GED * Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years combined experience in architecture or engineering or with environmental safety and construction projects. * Three (3) years management experience involving both administrative and technical duties and responsibilities is required * Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. * Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. * Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
