Pleasant Holidays, one of the largest travel wholesalers in the United States specializing in vacation travel to the Hawaiian Islands, Caribbean, Central & South America, Europe, Mexico, Middle East, South Pacific (Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand & Tahiti), Japan & Asia, the United States & Canada, and cruise vacations worldwide, is seeking a Project Leader. Pleasant Holidays is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California, a diversified insurance, roadside assistance, financial services and travel organization serving AAA Members for more than 100 years. The Project Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of software development projects. They manage the various activities for a project including requirement analysis, design/architecture, development, and testing. This includes everything from creating detailed technical design deliverables to system test plans. They may also be involved in creating debugging, analytical, and programming skills, as well as utilizing tools for project tracking. They will also network with professional teams, read documentation, manuals, periodicals, and other technical reports to stay informed of new development practices and strategies. Primary skills or responsibilities include but are not limited to: Analytical skills to analyze users’ needs and design software to meet those needs; Communication skills to give clear instructions to developers; Creativity critical to execution of duties; Detail oriented to manage multiple details; Problem-solving skills to resolve issues throughout software development; Project Management Skills using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Teams, Office. Performs other duties and assignments as required. Prerequisites: Bachelor's degree in IT, software development management, software engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience; Proven experience in project management, application development environments, tools, and methodologies; 6+ years’ experience in application development & maintenance including SQL, Shell Scripting, PERL, Python, Java or C; 5+ years' recent COBOL (Acucobol) development; Good knowledge of project estimation techniques; Good leadership, decision-making, and organization skills; Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills; Competency at defining and creating APIs using XML, XSD, XSLT, JSON, HTTP/S, REST/SOAP; Ability to work with a team or independently; Experience with Linux/Unix Operating Systems, including vi; Prior experience with travel industry preferred such as hotels and transportation (flights and/or rental cars).
