CHL Systems is a custom automation equipment supplier with over 65 years of innovative vision; providing Project Management, Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, and Installation Services for a variety of industries including Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, and General Manufacturing.

An exciting position is currently available for a Project Engineer in our Project Management Department. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience directing and controlling resources, managing equipment projects and solving complex problems in an entrepreneurial manufacturing environment. This position is primarily responsible for managing a cross functional team, as well as managing startup and commission of capital equipment projects by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and driving progress. The successful candidate will be technically savvy, results-oriented, innovative, and analytical.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage project development and equipment construction from beginning to end
  • Understand, analyze, and lead technical design and/or system specifications
  • Define and adhere to project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents
  • Effectively set, communicate, & manage project expectations with team members in a timely & clear fashion
  • Estimate, source and manage the internal and external resources needed to achieve project goals
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, devise contingency plans, and capture cost impact
  • Coordinate potential future project opportunities with the Sales Engineer
  • Build, develop, and maintain any business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Conduct project closeout reporting, including recommendations, in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements


Qualifications:

  • B.S in Engineering, or related field experience
  • 5 years direct Project Management related work experience in production/process/plant engineering within the food processing industry
  • 5 years direct Project Management work experience of capital projects capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Familiarity with drafting or modeling software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently demonstrating flexibility
  • Encouraging and motivating communication style
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results
  • Comfortable operating within a fast-paced environment
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and time lines through analytical/problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks efficiently
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Solid experience using project management software tools like MS Project
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Valid Driver's License


Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in an office and Manufacturing environment, regularly exposed to mechanical moving parts.
  • Exposure to varying elements/working conditions when on customer sites.
  • Regularly required to reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
  • Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.


Schedule and Hours: 40+ hours per week Monday-Friday with weekend work, as required, based on project demands.
