Project engineers help manage the planning and processes of projects to ensure they are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Duties and responsibilities vary.
Overview of Responsibilities/Duties
- Draft subcontractor agreements for review and attend site and owner meetings
- Oversee subcontractors and quality control and safety requirements
- Prepare and track RFI’s, Monthly Pay Requests and Purchase Orders
- Document Control: internals reports, tracking reports for equipment, time and materials, cost coding
- Controls project costs by submitting expenditures and administering subcontractor contracts for review and approval
- Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline Preferred
- 1-5 years of project experience working in the heavy civil construction industry /Required
- Licensed Professional or EIT Preferred but not required
- Proficient with MS Office Suite of tools, exposure to schedule software such as Primavera (P6) AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Viewpoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external resources
- Ability to effectively prioritize duties based upon project schedules and project needs
- Ability to self-manage with little or no supervision
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
