Summary:
A General Contractor based in Norfolk, VA, has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer. The Project Engineer alongside the Superintendent and the Operations team will assist with the administration duties for executing projects for Tazewell Contracting. The Project Engineer is responsible for efficient and accurate control and data management of construction related documents. Assists and supports project management and operations team with the processing of submittals and RFI’s. This position will also assist with documentation, quality, submittal process and correspondence, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, client interface, and field-based activities to execute projects. The Project Engineer will communicate with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal staff to ensure the projects run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer must be detail oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Performs duties to manage and review the RFI process.
Performs all duties to manage and review the submittal process to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Creates and updates submittal register.
Maintains accurate and complete submittal files.
Implements document control and records management.
Communicates effectively with Owners, Vendors, Subcontractors, Suppliers and fellow team members.
Works efficiently within Microsoft Products and other company software as needed for project management.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the construction industry.
Must be able to work efficiently as a team player in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Possess resourcefulness and ability to track down information quickly and accurately.
Must be able to work well within a deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and able to prioritize duties to meet assigned deadlines.
