After 60 years of continued design, construction and operations of the sewer system and treatment plant, we now have 400 plus employees serving residential, commercial and industrial customers in 83 communities throughout Allegheny County.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer III is responsible for performing engineering analysis and design and to manage projects related to capital improvements and renovations to the plant and sewage system conveyance facilities.

Job Duties

  • Manages and directs consulting engineers and construction managers in the design and construction of capital projects to the treatment plant and bio solids process facilities.
  • Attends regular internal and external progress and review meetings.
  • Directs drafting and clerical personnel in the preparation of drawings and specifications for engineering projects.
  • Reviews and approves shop drawings and project submittals.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, and contract bid documents for capital projects and maintenance to the Authority’s facilities.
  • Assists Operations Department in process performance and hydraulic/hydrologic analysis of the treatment plant and bio solids process facilities.
  • Assists Maintenance Department in planning repair, renovations or replacement of treatment plant and bio solids process facilities, structures, and equipment.
  • Prepares engineering requests for proposals for capital projects.
  • Prepares engineering drawings of design projects for use by contractors.
  • Prepares cost estimates and manages scheduling of engineering projects.
  • Assists in preparing budgets for engineering projects.
  • Prepares schedules, reports, and presentation materials with regards to Engineering and Construction projects.
  • Performs other job-related duties as needed.

Minimum Education Level Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Minimum Experience Required

Ten (10) years’ experience in design and construction of wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities.

Required Certifications / Licenses

Professional Engineer’s License is required.
