Position: Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer

Location: Lengnau, Switzerland

Contract Type: Freelance or Fixed-Term (12 Months)

Languages: English (required); German or another European language (preferred)

We are currently hiring a Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer to support engineering activities at a biomanufacturing facility in Switzerland. The site is purpose-built for large-scale production of biologics and is designed to support highly flexible technologies, from early development to full-scale production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently manage and coordinate technical and process-related sub-projects within the Project Engineering Organization.
• Support construction, commissioning, and qualification of process equipment and systems.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering activities and documentation throughout the entire project life cycle.
• Take accountability for scope, budget, safety, quality, and schedule of assigned tasks.
• Develop and revise engineering standards, concepts, and process documentation to support current and future project execution.
• Assist with facility fit-outs and engineering support for potential customers in collaboration with Global Engineering and MSAT.
• Handle small capital projects (a few thousand CHF/EUR), including basic procurement and service management tasks.

Candidate Profile:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s degree a plus).
• 3–5 years of experience in engineering roles, ideally within the pharmaceutical, biotech, food, or chemical process industries.
• Prior experience working on GMP-compliant projects in FDA-regulated environments is highly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Familiarity with:
• URS (User Requirement Specifications)
• Procurement of engineering services
• Managing small-scale projects
• Strong understanding of engineering documentation, timelines, and compliance expectations.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German or another European language is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment and cross-functional teams.
