Job Title: Project Director K-14 DSA
Job Description
The Project Director provides leadership in project management and operations, overseeing one or multiple project teams. This role involves managing client relationships, internal administration, financial management, and employee development. The Project Director reports to the Area Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing an Education Sector Bond program. The position supports design and construction in the Education Sector, ensuring projects are on budget and schedule while meeting client requirements.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the senior leader responsible for client interface, scope, schedule, and budget management.
* Lead construction efforts following district program policies and procedures, acting as the primary contact and liaison for the owner and principal partner entities.
* Ensure timely completion of all client-required deliverables.
* Develop and review contract documents, ensuring compliance with construction and project requirements.
* Collaborate and report to the client's senior management team on all project matters.
* Develop and implement a quality management system for the program.
* Accurately document and report all program/project data in a timely manner.
* Manage program controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client.
* Ensure client satisfaction with services on assigned projects.
* Track program and project status, providing management reports on scheduling and cost control.
* Present program and project data clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
* Develop recommended actions and assist in resolving design and construction disputes.
* Identify risks and create successful risk mitigation plans.
* Manage program logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization.
* Review and approve monthly invoices.
* Ensure contractors, architects, and engineers adhere to contractual safety, performance, project staff, and equipment requirements.
* Conduct performance evaluations and supervise and mentor staff.
* Develop an implementation plan and master schedule reflecting district priorities.
* Provide financial reporting to the client and the bond oversight committee.
* Represent the owner, project, and related parties in public forums and meetings.
* Ensure execution of project contract deliverables and reporting, including meeting minutes, construction reports, quality control reports, and more.
* Review and validate change orders.
* Perform other duties as assigned to ensure program and project success.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent.
* 10+ years of experience in project/program management services on Education projects.
* Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
* Advanced knowledge of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, and materials.
* Thorough understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, specifications, and applied experience in project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision-making capabilities, and problem resolution skills.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple Program & Project Management team members.
* Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and project-related systems.
* Supervisory role experience with responsibility for 3 Direct Reports (Project Managers and Project Engineers).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Familiarity with California Department of Education (CDE) and Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) preferred.
* Experience in alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build, is preferred.
* CMAA - Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) or similar certification is preferred.
* DBIA - Design Build Associate, or Professional certification is preferred.
* Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $185000.00/yr.
