Job Summary
LSB Industries is looking for a Project Development Engineer to join our Project Development Team in a new role focusing on critical future growth initiatives that will shape the company’s future. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Project Development, the primary function of this role is to assist in the development of opportunities for company growth and strategy execution. The Project Development Engineer will partner with colleagues across the company to generate ideas for further development, analyze and develop the ideas into potential opportunities and assist with assessing project scope, engineering and operational concerns, capital and operating cost estimates, and other operating assumptions that will flow into the project analysis. This position will be based in the Chicago Northern suburbs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Help the company grow by analyzing new business opportunities and project ideas and developing them into investable businesses. Make recommendations to senior management.
- Evaluate project ideas and opportunities to understand engineering, technology, operations, regulations, cost, risk, and other technical characteristics of projects to support a comprehensive review and understanding of the project.
- Lead early-stage engineering efforts through the company front end loading (FEL) stage gate process to develop risk adjusted project capital and operating cost estimates, development schedules and risks.
- Provide guidance on project execution risks using key learnings and engineering experience from previous projects and leveraging internal and external capabilities where required.
- Engage and lead internal and external engineering and technical consulting resources as required.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to identify risks, improve forecasts and fine tune assumptions.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to senior management.
