JAB Recruitment is currently looking to source a Project Delivery Manager on behalf of our client who is delivering a portfolio of decommissioning projects in the UKCS. This is a PAYE contract role, initially offered through to the end of March 2026, and based in Aberdeen. The role will be instrumental in leading the contracting strategy and delivery oversight of key decommissioning activities.


Role Overview

The Project Delivery Manager provides advice and support to help improve project success and strategic decision-making across the Major Projects Department. This role has a particular focus on decommissioning projects, where you will lead the development and implementation of the contracting strategy for major activities, including:


  • Topside engineering down and clean
  • Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) preparation and removals
  • Platform Plug & Abandonment (P&A)
  • Subsea P&A
  • Subsea infrastructure removals


This is a key leadership role that contributes to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of projects, and involves building strong relationships with internal and external partners.


Key Responsibilities

Contracting Strategy Development

  • Develop and execute an integrated contracting strategy for decommissioning activities, aligned with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Engage with the supply chain to assess market capabilities, drive innovation, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure competitive and transparent tendering processes, supported by robust contract management plans

Project Delivery & Interface Management

  • Lead and manage interfaces between internal teams (e.g., Asset Operations, HSE, P&A) and external contractors to ensure seamless execution
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, HLV, platform P&A, and subsea decommissioning workstreams to meet milestones and deliverables
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate interface risks between scopes and stakeholders

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide strategic input to project planning and decision-making in collaboration with the Decommissioning Manager
  • Support cross-functional teams in resolving interface challenges and adapting to project needs
  • Build strong relationships with JV partners, contractors, and regulators to ensure alignment and compliance

Performance Management

  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards are met or exceeded
  • Maintain focus on cost, schedule, and risk management amidst evolving project circumstances
  • Capture and integrate lessons learned into current and future decommissioning work

Safety Leadership

  • Role-model compliance with HSE policy; ensure activities are planned and delivered safely
  • Supervise, coach, and allocate work effectively to team members
  • Communicate consistently and exemplify company values
  • Foster team development and technical capability
  • Support personal development and lifelong learning
  • Manage resources efficiently and flag budgetary risks early

You Have:

  • Proven leadership in decommissioning, construction, or project delivery (preferably in offshore oil & gas)
  • Extensive management experience, ideally within an EPC contractor environment
  • Strong understanding of decommissioning contracting strategies and supply chain dynamics
  • In-depth knowledge of UKCS decommissioning regulations and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder interfaces
