Job Description
Our client is hiring a Principal Estimator to support our growing manufacturing/industrial client base. In this position you will be part of the PMO and providing direction and leadership for each phase of the project scope to assure on cost task completion within or below budget, with excellent quality and in accordance with contractual obligations. The Principal Estimator must have project, contract negotiations, various project delivery methods (EPCm, EPC, E/P/Cm) and construction management experience on a project that are ranges from $500M to >$1 Billion in Total Installed Cost.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide management, guidance, and act as team leader for all estimating team staff.
- Lead all estimate scope requirements and be completely responsible for all estimated costs for contracted services.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of all estimating deliverables and ensures estimates are prepared in accordance with company policies, program requirements, and meet quality control standards.
- Ensure that estimators are working within their skill set and implementing sound industry estimating practices.
- Utilize knowledge in resource skill sets and durations required to prepare and deliver estimates.
- Review contract documents to determine reasonableness of estimated cost and verifies that all risk and contingencies have been appropriately applied.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Ability to manage estimating team preparing difficult and complex estimating deliverables typical for construction industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Minimum of 12 years of related work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Familiarity with typical project controls software such as HCSS Heavy Bid, Primavera scheduling software, Estimate/Schedule Transfer tools, Contract Manager, and DMCS (Document and Materials Control System).
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a similar role
- Advanced degree in management or related field is preferred.
- Familiarity in labor and trade work practices and union requirements.
- Familiarity with joint venture interactions and procedures.
