About The Role:


They have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Project Controls Manager to join their team in Melbourne CBD office, where you’ll oversee a major infrastructure freight intermodal precinct development. Reporting directly to the General Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) and working closely with the project team, you will play a pivotal role in setting high standards, embedding best practices, and driving successful project outcomes. Your expertise in proactive monitoring and project performance measurement will ensure this transformative project stays on track and exceeds expectations.


You Will:


  • Establish critical milestones, tasks, and timelines, providing a robust framework for project execution from inception to completion.
  • Anticipate and address scheduling risks, delays, and disruptions, designing proactive mitigation strategies and recovery plans to maintain alignment with project objectives.
  • Execute critical path analysis and oversee project progress, delivering precise, actionable updates on status, delays, and adjustments to keep stakeholders informed and empowered.
  • Drive the implementation of Earned Value Management to assess project performance, identifying schedule variances and proposing targeted corrective actions to maximise efficiency and success.
  • Conduct routine schedule health assessments and partner with contractors to ensure flawless integration with project timelines.
  • Play a key role in risk assessments related to scheduling, developing strategic solutions to reduce disruptions and bolster project stability.
  • Manage the change control process, expertly analysing the impact of scope changes on schedules and executing adjustments with precision and strategic insight.
  • Create and lead training initiatives to promote standardisation, enhance collaboration, and build capability across project teams and departments.
  • Produce comprehensive progress reports, presenting insightful findings and forward-thinking recommendations to stakeholders to support data-driven decisions and project excellence.


About You:


  • A tertiary degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in project controls, with a proven track record of managing complex, high-stakes projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in scheduling software, such as Primavera P6, paired with a deep understanding of project control methodologies.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the agility to adapt to evolving project demands and priorities.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, demonstrated through mentoring teams and inspiring high-performance outcomes.
  • A meticulous eye for detail, with an unwavering commitment to data accuracy and reporting excellence.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex concepts into clear, compelling insights.
  • A thorough grasp of industry standards and best practices in project controls, ensuring every decision aligns with excellence.
